The Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 551 cases for drunk driving and 141 cases for over-speeding during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city.The drive was carried out from August 31 to September 6, involving traffic personnel from all 53 traffic police stations in Bengaluru.According to the police, as many as 33,059 vehicles were checked during the drive against drunk driving, resulting in 551 cases being registered. In the separate drive against over-speeding, 141 cases were registered and ₹1.42 lakh in fines were collected.The drive was aimed at curbing drunk driving and over-speeding and improving road safety in Bengaluru.The traffic police said the enforcement drive would continue in the coming days to deter motorists from violating traffic rules.
