Pollen, grass, fleas, and ticks can all contribute to seasonal skin problems in pets.
For many pet parents, spring means more walks, outdoor adventures, and time in the garden. But as temperatures rise, pets are also exposed to an increase in pollen, grass allergens, fleas, and ticks.
According to Dr Wiandre Pieters of Bloemfontein Veterinary Hospital, knowing what to look for can help pet parents spot seasonal risks before they become more serious.
Why are pets’ skin problems worse in spring?
Warmer temperatures increase the number of environmental allergens and create ideal conditions for ectoparasites such as fleas and ticks.
