Sweden’s opposition Social Democratic Party is demanding that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson take immediate action following revelations of pro-Russian links within the Sweden Democrats.
Magdalena Andersson, leader of the center-left Social Democrats, said this, as reported by Politico, according to Ukrinform.
The calls were prompted by a September 3 article by the nongovernmental group Expo, which alleged that a Sweden Democrats official had promoted pro-Kremlin narratives for a decade, developed ties with a “Russian government-backed group” in Sweden, and escorted Russians into the Swedish parliament building. The official in question is Polina Malaberg, who previously held positions connected with parliamentary committees dealing with EU affairs.
Her partner, Gustav Gellerbrant, also a member of the Sweden Democrats, heads the party’s Coordination Office in the government, serving as a liaison between the party and the governing coalition. Andersson argues that his relationship with Malaberg raises questions about his access to classified information.
