The latest poll on the upcoming elections has suggested the decline of the DA in the City of Cape Town amid the apparent growth of the ANC and the Patriotic Alliance.
The nationwide survey by Ipsos, which was conducted between June and July 2026, found two-thirds of 3600 people interviewed in the metros have expressed either some interest or said that they are very interested in politics and elections.
Ipsos said their findings suggested that turnout could play a significant role in determining election outcomes in several provinces.
It said the proportions of registered voters who currently indicate that they will not vote in the local government elections may be of particular interest to political parties campaigning in Ekurhuleni, eThekwini, Tshwane and Buffalo City.
