The Nigerian stock market closed last week on a positive note, as investors on the Nigerian Exchange Limited, NGX, gained N3.73 trillion.

This comes ahead of the transition of the Nigerian market from unclassified to frontier market later this month.

Market details last week showed that gains in MTN Nigeria by 5.0%, Seplat Energy 10.0%, Zenith 6.3% and FirstHoldco 3.4% significantly drove the NGX All-Share Index, ASI, higher by 2.4% Week-on-Week, WoW, to 246,992.44 points from 241,297.47 points the previous week.

As a result, the Month-to-Date MtD, return moderated to 1.1%, while the Year-to-Date, YtD, return settled at 58.7%.
