Rassie Erasmus hailed the Springboks’ 29-24 victory over the All Blacks as an “epic” battle — but revealed that Cheslin Kolbe has suffered a broken jaw and will miss next week’s series finale in Baltimore.
The bruising victory at Soccer City put the Springboks 2-1 ahead in Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, but it came at a heavy cost as both sides lost key players in a Test played at ferocious intensity.
While the All Blacks will still have a chance to draw the series in Baltimore, Erasmus knows his team will have to produce another monumental effort in the USA.
“It was a truly epic Test match,” Erasmus said, his voice croaky after 80 minutes of barking instructions to his troops through his microphone.
