After the fireworks of the summer, the season comes to an end with a sleepy weekend at the box office, at least in terms of new entries like By Any Means and Onslaught.

Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit No. 1 for its sixth weekend in a row, with roughly $23.4 million over the four-day frame. The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed feature has crossed $900 million domestically, making it only the second film ever to do so after 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which stands as the all-time domestic holder at $936 million. Brand New Day should pass that record soon to become the all-time domestic leader. Globally, Brand New Day has surpassed $2.33 billion, making it the No. 3 movie of all time behind Avatar (2009) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) after passing up Avatar: The Way of Water (2022).

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, now in its eighth weekend and also starring Brand New Day star Tom Holland, comes in at at No. 2 with around $17.3 million, which would put it at $589 million domestically through Monday for the Universal title.

Coyote vs. Acme is coming in third with $15.8 million for the four days. Its three-day number is estimated to hit around $11.9 million with a very strong hold, declining around 25 percent after the much-talked about movie bowed to $15 million last weekend. Warner Bros. Discovery famously shelved the film, with distributor Ketchup Entertainment rescuing it after a fan outcry. Another holdover, 20th Century’s The Dog Stars, did not fair so well, with a four-day estimate of just $3.5 million and a domestic cume of $13.8 million for the big budget Ridley Scott feature.
