Maggie Gyllenhaal made quite the fashion statement in a dramatic black taffeta gown as she walked the red carpet for the A Place To Heal premiere during Venice Film Festival on Friday.

The actress, 48, who is serving as the festival's jury president, oozed confidence while striking a pose in the one-shouldered custom Celine gown which featured a voluminous skirt and a short train.

Boosting her height, she added pointed black court heels, with Maggie no doubt turning heads as she sashayed across the carpet.

The Donnie Darko star further accessorised her glam look with a small gold clutch and dark sunglasses – both of which she put aside to pose for waiting photographers.

Maggie was all smiles as she supported the Cédric Kahn directed French drama film which explores the realities of troubled teenagers inside an adolescent psychiatric ward.
