Manhunt under way after JMPD officer’s firearm is seized in Lenasia.
A Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officer was disarmed while on duty in Lenasia on Thursday, prompting authorities to launch a full-scale manhunt for the suspects involved.
According to JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla, the incident occurred while the officer was carrying out official duties in the area.
"During the encounter, the suspects managed to disarm the officer before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle toward the Golden Highway," said Fihla.
The JMPD said the officer did not sustain any serious physical injuries during the incident.
