Glenrose Xaba has skipped this year's cross country championships to focus on her road-racing programme ahead of the world championships in Denmark later this month.
Athletics South Africa has named a 14-member team for the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 19-20 September.
Elroy Gelant and Glenrose Xaba will provide plenty of experience when South Africa returns to the global road-running stage, having both represented the country at the inaugural championships in Riga, Latvia, in 2023.
Gelant finished 13th in the men's half marathon in Riga, while Xaba was 12th in the women's race. South Africa also claimed bronze in the men's team competition.
The pair will again contest the half marathon in Copenhagen, with Gelant joined in the men's race by Ngconde Matwebu and Cwenga Nose, while Xaba lines up alongside Cacisile Sosibo and Karabo Mailula.
