Nicole Christie is heading to China to participate in the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championships
Eight athletes from Durban based Iron Movement have earned places in Team South Africa for the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championships, which will be held in Beijing, China, in September.
The athletes form part of a national squad of more than 20 South Africans who will compete in the global event across the 3km, 400m and 100m disciplines.
Obstacle Course Racing is a fast-growing sport that combines trail running with challenging obstacles such as walls, monkey bars, rope climbs, heavy carries and cargo net crawls, testing competitors' speed, strength, endurance and technical ability.
Earlier this year, Iron Movement became an official South African Modern Pentathlon Association (SAMPA) venue and hosted a regional qualifying event in June. Athletes then competed at the South African OCR National Championships in July, where the national team was selected.
