Gilbert Kiprotich of Kenya, Ugandan superstar Joshua Cheptegei, veteran Stephen Mokoka and defending champion Kabelo Mulaudzi of South Africa are primed for a record-breaking attempt at Sunday's Absa Run Your City Durban 10K.
For one of the greatest distance runners of his generation, Joshua Cheptegei offered an unexpected comparison ahead of Sunday's Absa Run Your City Durban 10K.
Rather than talking tactics or rivals, the Ugandan likened modern road racing to football.
"Running is the same as football these days. It has become a team sport," the reigning Olympic 10 000m champion said at a media conference in Durban on Friday.
"If the organisers want us to run sub-27 minutes, all of us must come together. Then something good can happen."
