Kabelo Mulaudzi in action during the 2025 Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K returns to Durban this Sunday, 12 July, featuring an elite lineup with roots tracing back eight years. In 2018, Joshua Cheptegei, Stephen Mokoka, and Kabelo Mulaudzi crossed this same finish line together before embarking on very different career paths.

This weekend, those paths converge once again as all three athletes return to the Durban course.

Joshua Cheptegei, then a superstar from Uganda, blew the competition away. He won the race in 27 minutes and 16 seconds, becoming the first person ever to run a sub-28-minute 10K on South African soil.

Kabelo Mulaudzi, a young, inexperienced South African runner, crossed the line nearly two full minutes behind the winner, placing 13th. At that moment, he was just another face in the crowd.
