The voluntary recall covers 12- and 18-count packs of shelf-stable 1% chocolate milk that may spoil prematurely

Horizon Organic Dairy, LLC initiated a voluntary recall of 53,760 cases of its shelf-stable 1% chocolate milk on Aug. 7, after buyers began flagging cartons that had puffed up and whose contents smelled off, tasted strange, or had an unusual texture.
The FDA posted an enforcement report on Aug. 31 confirming the action. At issue are multipacks — sold in 12- and 18-count configurations — of eight-ounce shelf-stable 1% Chocolate Milk cartons bearing the Horizon Organic Aseptic label, which had been shipped to grocery stores nationwide; the totals break down to 34,524 of the smaller cases and 19,236 of the larger ones.
