Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Thursday he expects “new momentum” in diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s war as a new political season begins in capitals around the world. Sybiha made the remarks during a joint press conference with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Kyiv.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. “There were no holidays or pauses in Ukraine, we are fighting for our land and for a just peace,” Sybiha said, according to Interfax-Ukraine. “Now, I believe, we will see new momentum in peace efforts as an active political and diplomatic phase resumes in many capitals around the world.” He said diplomacy should play an increasingly active role in efforts to achieve peace, adding that the participation of the United States would be essential. “It is unrealistic to achieve this without the involvement of the American side – these are the geopolitical realities,” Sybiha said. The foreign minister also said President Volodymyr Zelensky recently spoke with members of the US negotiating team. “Regular contact is being maintained with the American negotiating team and its members. This dialogue has not stopped. And I recommend that you watch the news.” Earlier on Thursday, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said Russia and Ukraine must negotiate an end to the war themselves, while other countries should limit their role to supporting the process.
