US President Donald Trump’s special envoys plan to visit Ukraine as Kyiv seeks to revive negotiations on ending Russia’s full-scale war, acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Thursday, Aug. 6. According to RBC-Ukraine, Sybiha said negotiations involving US partners are currently on hold, while Kyiv is awaiting the arrival of the American delegation.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. “We are waiting for the American negotiating team to arrive. We welcome the efforts of the American side and want to see greater momentum and US engagement,” Sybiha said. He noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky had repeatedly spoken about the planned visit. Sybiha said Ukraine believes achieving a just peace without US participation would be impossible. He also argued that effective security guarantees for Ukraine would be difficult to envision without Washington’s involvement. “All of this was discussed during Zelensky’s recent talks with Trump in Washington. Ukraine seeks to end this war. We are using every opportunity to bring a just peace for Ukraine closer,” Sybiha said. Trump’s envoys preparing first Kyiv visit The planned visit would mark the first trip to Ukraine by senior US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner since US President Donald Trump returned to office. The visit follows Zelensky’s meeting with Trump at the White House on Tuesday. Witkoff and Kushner have played leading roles in Trump’s efforts to broker an end to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Their diplomacy has so far focused largely on contacts with Moscow, including several meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, without visiting Kyiv.
