A SANDF soldier is seen assaulting Bonita Smith during a confrontation in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain. The SANDF says Military Police are investigating the incident.
Three SANDF soldiers allegedly had to restrain their colleague after he shoved a 16-year-old girl, raised his rifle and tried to slap her during the same Tafelsig confrontation in which her mother was assaulted.
In an interview with the Cape Argus, Bonita Smith said what happened to her 16-year-old daughter was not fully captured in the footage which first exposed the assault.
Smith said her daughter came outside after seeing her 20-year-old brother on the ground and asked why he was there.
That was when the soldier allegedly turned on her.
