Engie begins commercial operation of two Chile BESS projects

Multinational power firm Engie has announced the start of commercial operation of the Libélula and Los Loros energy storage projects on the National Electric System in Chile.

Announced 28 August, the battery energy storage system (BESS) projects collectively add 251MW of storage to the System. Engie stated the implementation of both projects responds to the growing need for infrastructure that allows it to keep pace with the evolution of the National Electric System and contribute to an increasingly cleaner and more competitive energy mix.
