The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa Branch, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Jigawa State Government to fully implement the 2025 ASUU-Federal Government agreement and pay all accrued arrears, or face industrial action from September 15, 2026.
The union also demanded the payment of outstanding allowances, annual increments, promotion arrears, third-party deductions and the release of the approved 2024/2025 Earned Academic Allowance.
The development comes amid similar demands by ASUU chapters in other universities across the country for the full implementation of the 2025 ASUU-FGN agreement, with several branches threatening industrial action over unpaid arrears and stalled promotions.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of ASUU-SLUK, Idris Chiromawa and Salisu Yunusa, respectively, and made available to journalists on Wednesday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
According to the statement, the resolution was reached at a special congress held on Tuesday to review the implementation of the 2025 ASUU-FGN agreement.
