Bharatiya Janata Party MP Raghav Chadha on Thursday claimed that his name was deleted from the draft voter list prepared during the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Punjab.Chadha claimed that the Election Commission had classified him as having shifted from his registered address in Mohali. He is a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab.He alleged that this was a “clear case of political vendetta” by the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state.The Aam Aadmi Party said that the voter roll revision exercise was conducted by the Election Commission and the state government has “no role in deciding whose name is included or deleted”.In a social media post, Chadha said that he was marked “shifted” by an official of the AAP government. “Who verified that classification?” he asked. “Again, an officer of AAP’s Punjab government.”Chadha quoted the guidelines issued by the poll panel for the exercise as stating that public representatives should be included in the draft rolls “so that necessary documents can also be collected during the period of claims and objections”.The guidelines require his name to be included in the draft roll as he is an MP, Chadha added.He further alleged that the officers had deleted his name from the rolls because their transfers and careers were controlled by the state government. “This is how the AAP government applies political pressure through state officers to execute the political revenge,” he alleged.He claimed that the party had acted this way because its leadership “has been burning with anger” since he joined the BJP.On April 26, seven of the AAP’s 10 Rajya Sabha MPs, led by Chadha, split from the party and joined the BJP’s legislature unit in the Upper House.
