The Mangaluru City Corporation has asked unauthorised street vendors operating in public places to vacate the places.

The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has asked street vendors, who are carrying out vending in different parts of the city without authorisation, to voluntarily vacate those places. If they failed to do so, the corporation will be forced to evict them by exercising power under Sections 12 and 18 of the Street Vendors Act, 2014.In a press release, MCC Central Zone Commissioner said with increase in vehicle density, the civic body was receiving complaints about many street vendors unauthorisedly carrying out activity on pavements and other public places. This was causing obstruction to traffic and also posing problems for pedestrians.Only 667 street vendors, who have received identity card from the MCC and also have vending certificate, will be permitted to engage in street vending.
