According to a statement from EVN, the energy supplier has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of shares in BayWa Mobility Charging GmbH (BMC) from BayWa Mobility Solutions via its subsidiary EVN Energieservices. The company has not disclosed any financial details of the transaction.
With this acquisition, EVN gains its first significant foothold in the German EV charging market. According to the company, BMC currently operates 30 locations with a total of 170 public high-powered charging points featuring charging capacities of up to 400 kW. The network is primarily concentrated in Bavaria, with additional locations in Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia.
However, this is not the end of the expansion. By 2027, the portfolio is set to grow to 54 locations with a total of 306 HPC charging points. Compared to the current inventory, this represents 24 additional locations and 136 more charging points. However, the available information does not reveal how far along the individual projects in the announced expansion pipeline are.
EVN enters Germany for the first time
For EVN, the transaction primarily represents a geographic expansion of its charging business. According to the company, growth has so far been driven mainly by the development of its own charging infrastructure in Austria. With BMC, the energy supplier is now taking over an existing German HPC network, including its expansion pipeline.
