The Anantapur district branch of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) received five Governor’s medals. Two medals were awarded in the membership category, while three were awarded in the ‘Social Service/Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ category to organisations that provided significant support to the Red Cross.The annual general meeting of the IRCS, Andhra Pradesh State branch for the year 2024-25 was held on Tuesday at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada. The prestigious Governor’s medals were presented by Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer to districts, individuals, and organisations that demonstrated outstanding performance in Red Cross service activities.In the membership category, V. Vinod Kumar, who served as the District Collector of Anantapur and president of the IRCS Anantapur district branch during 2024-25, and Vaka Srinivasula Reddy, former RDO of Guntakal, were selected for the Governor’s medals. They received the medals from the Governor.Governor’s Medals were also awarded to three organisations for their contributions to the Anantapur Red Cross under the Social Service/CSR category. They included the Mobis India Module Private Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and M/s Saptagiri Camphor Private Limited respectively.Treasurer Sunkara Ramesh, along with managing committee members Manoranjan Reddy, Bisathi Bharat, K. Lakshminarayana, and others represented the Anantapur district branch of the IRCS.District Collector and president of IRCS Anantapur district branch O. Anand congratulated all the recipients of the Governor’s medals. He commended their valuable contributions to the humanitarian services of the Red Cross.Nandyal Collector shinesMeanwhile, Nandyal District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya received the prestigious Red Cross Gold Medal and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Governor for her distinguished services to the public under the aegis of the IRCS.Ms. Rajakumari received the award for the effective implementation of public-welfare initiatives in Nandyal district under the IRCS, including the establishment of a blood storage unit, the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra, and the execution of the ‘Doctor at Your Doorstep’ programme.
