Russia pounds Kyiv for more than 12 hours, killing at least a dozen in 6th straight day of attacks

Overnight Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine’s Black Sea port city of Odesa and the surrounding area, local authorities said.

Pupils started returning to schools in Ukraine on Monday for the start of the new academic year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited a school in Kyiv region on Tuesday to congratulate pupils on the start of the school year, after Russian strikes had forced teachers to hold their first lessons in a shelter.
