Marcos wants P4.58-B confidential funds for 2027 — almost half of proposed OP budget

(1st UPDATE) Observing the long-held tradition of parliamentary courtesy, the House appropriations committee approves the proposed budget of the Office of the President

Malacañang is requesting a budget of over P10.158 billion for 2027, significantly lower than the 2026 budget due to the previous year's ASEAN chairmanship expenses being allocated under the Office of the President.

The budget includes P4.58 billion for confidential expenses, which has raised concerns among legislators regarding transparency and scrutiny, especially in light of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial.
