A Lwandle police officer is under fire after he was caught on video slapping a civilian outside the police station in Strand, just days after footage emerged of an SANDF soldier assaulting a woman in Tafelsig.
The latest incident has resulted in an assault case, an Ipid investigation and disciplinary proceedings against the police officer.
A video posted online by crime group Fight Against Crime South Africa, shows the man on the ground outside Lwandle police station. He was allegedly intoxicated and had reportedly been stabbed. The police officer can be seen standing over him before the man gets to his feet.
The officer then berates him in isiXhosa saying that the drunk man came to insult them (police officers), but he is scared of the guy that stabbed him.
The officer continues to demand respect.
