A police officer in Mpumalanga could face disciplinary action after a video of him singing and dancing in full SAPS uniform spread across social media platforms.

The South African Police Service has confirmed that the officer has been identified and that an internal process is underway following the circulation of the footage.

The incident has drawn the attention of provincial police management, who maintain that members are expected to uphold the image and integrity of the service at all times, particularly while wearing official uniform.

According to SAPS, the officer's actions breached regulations governing members' conduct and the use of police uniform on social media.

"Such conduct is a clear contravention of the policies and Code of Conduct of the SAPS. Members are prohibited from recording videos or content in uniform as that brings the Service into disrepute," the organisation said.
