The African Action Congress presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has vowed to hold security chiefs accountable for alleged human rights violations and other abuses if elected President of Nigeria.
Sowore stated this during a press conference in Lagos, where he criticised what he described as a culture of impunity within Nigeria’s security architecture and accused the political leadership of failing to properly control security agencies.
The activist said his approach to the security agencies would be fundamentally different from what he described as the prevailing practice of rewarding officials accused of wrongdoing with promotions or other appointments.
