The price of the US dollar crossed the 209,000-toman mark for the first time on Monday, August 31, trading at 209,250 tomans.

On Sunday, August 30, the US dollar had peaked at 207,550 tomans during top-tier trading before experiencing a slight, temporary dip.

During Monday’s opening trading session, the base cash rate for the US dollar in Tehran was recorded at 206,450 tomans. However, the upward trajectory persisted, and by 12:15 PM Iran time, Tehran’s forward-market dollar rate had surpassed 208,000 tomans for the first time, topping out at 209,250 tomans.

This historic exchange rate milestone coincides with recent statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, who reiterated Washington’s commitment to intensifying economic pressure and enforcing a naval blockade against the Islamic Republic.

In response, military officials from the Islamic Republic maintain that U.S. sanctions and blockades have no impact on Iran’s economy.
