A major rescue operation has been launched after a teenage boy went missing off the coast of a popular Welsh beach. The boy entered the sea at Marloes Sands, Pembrokeshire, along with two other people on Sunday before getting into difficulty at around 3pm. Two of the trio were able to swim themselves to safety, though the boy remains unaccounted for. Rescue teams including the RNLI, HM Coastguard and Dyfed-Powys Police have been searching the coast for more than 24 hours. Helicopters were also seen flying over the beach for more than four hours last night. A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said it first received reports that three people had got into difficulty at around 3.30pm on Sunday. They added: 'Two of the three people self-rescued and one person remains unaccounted for.'The local police force urged the public to stay away from Marloes Sands due to an 'ongoing incident'. Marloes Sands is a popular beach in west Wales, though rocks beneath the surface of the water are reported to, at times, make swimming hazardous.
