A massive search operation for a teenage boy, launched off the coast of Pembrokeshire, has been suspended pending further information, HM Coastguard said21:12, 31 Aug 2026Updated 21:36, 31 Aug 2026The search for a teenage boy who vanished off the coast of Pembrokeshire has been suspended, with HM Coastguard not expected to resume unless new information comes to light.‌It is understood the teenager disappeared after entering the water off Marloes Sands on Sunday afternoon. At around 3pm, three people got into difficulty, and one person - understood to be a 14-year-old boy - has not been seen since.‌A major search and rescue operation for the youngster was suspended at 5:15pm this evening.‌Police swarmed the Pembrokeshire coast on Sunday alongside RNLI boats, paramedics, a coastguard helicopter and a HM Coastguard fixed wing aircraft.The search was suspended at 3.30am on Monday morning, resumed later on Monday morning and suspended again at 5.15pm on Monday, HM Coastguard said just before 8.30pm.Asked if the search would resume tomorrow a spokesperson said: "It is pending further information, so it will only be restarted if there is additional information forthcoming."‌Coastguard crews were supported by the area 13 drone team in Monday's search, reports Wales Online. Residents in the Dale area said helicopters had been circling overhead for several hours when the youngster first vanished on Sunday.A HM Coastguard spokesperson said the search will only be resumed if new information is received.‌"Following an extensive search, yesterday afternoon, night and today the search for the person missing off Marloes, Pembrokeshire was suspended, pending further information at 5.15pm this evening," the Coastguard said in a statement.Detailing the search since Sunday, the statement added: "At around 3.30pm on August 30, HM Coastguard received a report of three people in difficulties in the water requiring assistance at Marloes, Pembrokeshire."Two of the three people self-rescued and one person remained unaccounted for.‌"HM Coastguard coordinated maritime search as a part of a multi-agency response. Yesterday afternoon and evening, Broad Haven and Dale coastguard rescue teams were in attendance, plus RNLI lifeboats from Angle, Tenby and St Davids and a local pilot boat."A coastguard helicopter and an HM Coastguard fixed wing aircraft were sent along with the Welsh Ambulance Service. Mayday relay broadcasts also took place."The search was suspended at around 3:30am this morning and then started again at first light. Broad Haven, Dale and St Davids Coastguard Rescue Teams, Angle and Littlehaven RNLI Lifeboats, and the Coastguard Drone Team conducted further searches.Article continues below"Sadly, no sign of the missing person was found."
