The T6 is the first model in a new range of electrified vehicles from FAW-Volkswagen called ‘ID. AURA’. The electric car’s exterior design was unveiled in April this year at the Beijing Motor Show. Key specifications for the powertrain, taken from the model’s Chinese type-approval application, will follow in mid-July.
The vehicle is based on the new CEA (China Electronic Architecture) electronics and electrical architecture developed jointly by Volkswagen and Xpeng, and is set to compete in the mid-range segment as a five-seater SUV.
FAW-Volkswagen has now begun pre-sales. The ID. Aura T6 is available in four trim levels with corresponding price points. Prices start at 135,900 yuan for the 540 Pro, 149,900 yuan for the 660 Pro, 159,900 yuan for the 660 Max, and 169,900 yuan for the 660 Ultra, which corresponds to the price range mentioned at the beginning of between 17,400 and 21,800 euros.
The five-seater is 4.81 metres long, 1.88 metres wide, and 1.65 metres tall. The wheelbase is 2.84 metres. The powertrain is identical across all variants, with a maximum output of 170 kW. The differences lie in the battery, as the base version uses LFP cells from Gotion High-tech and has a capacity of 59.9 kWh, while the higher trim levels feature LFP cells from CATL and offer a battery capacity of 77.5 kWh.
