Visakhapatnam: AIG Hospitals will invest Rs 2,000 crore over the next five years to build a 1,000-bed greenfield multispeciality hospital in Visakhapatnam, marking the Hyderabad-based healthcare chain's first expansion outside the city. AIG Hospitals currently has 1400+ beds across three centres in Hyderabad.The foundation stone for the project was laid at Endada in Visakhapatnam on Monday by Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh and AIG Hospitals chairman D Nageshwar Reddy.Also Read: Mahajan Imaging, Neuberg Diagnostics join hands to scale pathology, genomics in North IndiaThe hospital will be developed in two phases on a nine-acre campus. The first phase, with 650 beds, is expected to be operational by October 2028, while the second phase will add another 350 beds over the following two to three years.The hospital will have more than 50 medical and surgical specialities, with clinical infrastructure including advanced endoscopy suites, fully equipped 150 critical care beds and a 50-bed emergency department. The project will also include a nursing college, paramedic training centre, research laboratory, AI centre and academic block. A 120-bed mother-and-child block, including a 15-bed neonatal intensive care unit, will also be part of the campus.
