Newcastle United are pushing on multiple forward targets as they look to end the transfer window with a flourish, while Nick Woltemade’s future feels increasingly uncertain after the club fielded several enquiries for the Germany striker.
The Magpies have held talks with Lille over the weekend for long-term target Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who can play across the front line.
As revealed by The i Paper on Friday, he is keen to move to St James’ Park if a deal can be thrashed out but after more than a week of negotiations that has proved tough.
They also like Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss and there are “one or two” alternatives being worked on in the background, although the pool of players Newcastle believe would significantly improve them while worth the fees being demanded is small.
