President Cyril Ramaphosa has defended the ANC’s handling of Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero’s controversial outburst, saying Morero apologised publicly after confronting a resident during an electricity meeting.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has described Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero’s heated exchange with a resident as “completely unacceptable”, but said the ANC had accepted his apology and hoped residents would also do so.
Ramaphosa was speaking on the sidelines of an ANC campaign in Orange Farm, Gauteng, on Sunday, following the backlash against Morero after he confronted a resident during a community meeting in Tshepisong last week.
Morero was attending a City Power electricity imbizo in the area on Thursday when he became involved in a heated exchange with a resident who called him a criminal.
The mayor responded by defending himself against the accusation before telling the resident not to repeat it.
