Russian analyst Nikolai Plotnikov has described Bulgaria as one of the key suppliers of Soviet-designed weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, claiming that Bulgarian deliveries cover a significant share of the Ukrainian military's needs.
Plotnikov, head of the Center for Scientific and Analytical Information at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said Bulgaria supplies Ukraine with armored vehicles, artillery systems, ammunition in 122 mm and 152 mm calibers, rounds for Grad multiple rocket launchers, mortars and small arms.
He also claimed that Bulgaria provides up to 40% of the Ukrainian armed forces' diesel fuel requirements. The figures were presented by Plotnikov as information available to him and were not independently verified in the material.
The Russian analyst made the comments during a conference at the Rossiya Segodnya press center devoted to the involvement of NATO member states and their allies in the military operations in Ukraine.
Plotnikov also highlighted the role of the Czech Republic in supporting the Ukrainian military. He claimed that the country has modernized about 800 T-72 tanks for Ukraine and has played a significant role in international efforts to supply Kyiv with ammunition.
