The developers of the basketball game NBA 2K27 have kicked off a wave of pre-release tests for Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling 5 (DLSS 5). The starting point is the library file nvngx_dlssnr.dll, which was discovered in the early access version of NBA 2K27. ”nr” presumably stands for Neural Rendering and represents the core function of DLSS 5: the enhancement of game characters using artificial intelligence.

The dll file is 158 MB in size. Techpowerup has already taken a look at it and concludes that model weights make up 89 percent of the library. The website suspects that it contains 148 million parameters with 8-bit precision (FP8). Nvidia itself has only announced DLSS 5 so far, but has not yet released it.

A Discord server focused on the modding toolkit RenoDX shows particularly high activity regarding the DLSS 5 leak. “lecram” has provided a version that works in all sorts of games. On the Discord server, in the “dlss5” channel, new versions are pinned, with interested parties downloading and installing at their own risk.

Activatable with Reshade

The dll works in conjunction with the post-processing injector Reshade. The program intervenes at the end of the rendering chain to change the appearance of games. The version “Reshade with full add-on support“ is required. Interested parties download the necessary files, copy them into the main directory of the game where the exe is located, and start Reshade in the game.
