Samoa’s severe weather conditions have begun to ease, but wave and swell heights of around 3 metres still remain across the country, prompting authorities to keep an cautious in place.
On Monday, the Samoa Meteorology Division issued its latest Public and Marine Severe Weather Information at 5 am, cancelling several weather advisories that had been in effect in recent days.
The Wind Advisory for all land areas, Coastal Flood Advisory, Marine Warning and High Surf Advisory have all been cancelled as conditions continue to improve.
However, a Marine Advisory remains valid, with mariners urged to remain cautious as moderate easterly winds and waves of around three metres continue across Samoa's waters.
According to the Meteorology Division, a dominant high-pressure system centred east of New Zealand is continuing to move further eastward, resulting in easing winds and decreasing wave activity across the Samoa group.
