MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — Two men were killed in a firefight between police and armed suspects during a warrant implementation here late Saturday, while a six-month-old infant later died after a grenade allegedly left by the fleeing target exploded.
Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PROBAR), said the operation was launched around 11 p.m. in Barangay Tampilong to serve an arrest warrant against Kadapi Mimbesa Mortiaba, who is facing a case for alleged violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.
The warrant was issued by a court in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, and dated Oct. 11, 2024. It carried no recommended bail, the police reported.
