A human chain against alcohol and drug abuse was organised on Langs Garden Road in Egmore on Sunday, marking the conclusion of a 15-day awareness campaign on building a “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu”.People from various sections of society, including educationists, social workers, and school and college students, participated in the event. They carried placards and raised slogans highlighting the harmful effects of alcohol and drug abuse and the need to protect young people from substance use.The campaign stressed that efforts to prevent substance abuse required the participation of families, educational institutions, social organisations, youth and the wider community, besides government interventions.The organisers said sustained public awareness and preventive measures were necessary to address substance abuse and protect young people.
