The Jigawa State Police Command has impounded 27 vehicles and prosecuted their drivers for allegedly violating various road traffic regulations as part of its ongoing Operation Velvet aimed at improving road safety across the state.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Shi’isu Adam.

The PPRO said the operation was being intensified under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, to enforce strict compliance with road traffic laws and regulations across Jigawa State.

According to him, police personnel involved in the operation intercepted and impounded 27 motor vehicles found to have violated relevant traffic laws during the ongoing enforcement exercise.
