The Gombe State Police Command has disclosed that it impounded 121 vehicles and prosecuted 114 motorists for violating the National Road Traffic Regulations as part of an ongoing enforcement exercise aimed at enhancing security across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Chuso, disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Gombe, saying the operation targeted vehicles operating with covered, concealed, altered, defaced or without registration number plates.
According to the police commissioner, the enforcement exercise, which commenced on June 16, 2026, is designed to improve vehicle identification and strengthen public safety.
“The Gombe State Police Command has intensified enforcement against vehicles operating with covered, defaced, concealed, altered and those without registration number plates,” Chuso said.
“This enforcement exercise is a proactive security measure aimed at improving vehicle identification and strengthening public safety.”
