The Ogun State Police Command has intensified its security operations across the state, arresting 89 motorists for violating regulations on vehicle registration number plates as part of a broader strategy to strengthen crime prevention and improve intelligence gathering.

The command said the enforcement drive was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, ordering a nationwide clampdown on vehicles operating without registration number plates or with covered, altered or obscured plates, describing such practices as a major security concern capable of aiding criminal activities.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that the exercise was designed to deny criminals the anonymity often exploited in carrying out unlawful acts.

According to him, security operatives apprehended 89 vehicles and their drivers during the operation, with legal and administrative measures already initiated against the offenders.
