Everton owner The Friedkin Group (TFG) has decided not to sell their coveted midfielder Harrison Armstrong in this transfer window.The Athletic revealed on Saturday that Nottingham Forest were working to sign the 19-year-old academy graduate — with talks centred around a £40million ($54.2m) fee plus a future sale clause — and it reached an advanced stage.That possibility generated a reaction of shock and anger from sections of the Everton fanbase, given Armstrong is regarded among the country’s best emerging talents.He featured from the start of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, while Everton’s hierarchy spent much of the day discussing whether or not to let the England youth international depart.Their board assessed a number of trading options to strengthen David Moyes’s squad before the transfer window closes on Tuesday and eventually made a unanimous call, with chairman Dan Friedkin personally involved.It was ultimately deemed that Armstrong’s importance to Everton’s project and value as a homegrown player is such that he will remain at the Hill Dickenson Stadium.Forest had been seeking to add to their midfield ranks following the departure of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for £116m earlier this summer.
