Nottingham Forest lead the race for Pape Matar Sarr amid interest from Europe for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.
Galatasaray and Monaco have been linked with the 23-year-old this summer but Forest are now hopeful of signing the Senegal international on an initial loan deal. Spurs value Sarr at £20m and a deal could include the option to buy next summer.
Forest are seeking midfield reinforcement after selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City and had previously shown an interest in Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall.
Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi wants to keep Bergvall and while he had also called Sarr a “very important player”, the midfielder was not in the matchday squads to face Brentford or Charlton Athletic this past week.
It is believed the player’s desire is to remain in the Premier League.
