Appealing to the student community to remain ever conscious of the harmful impacts of drugs, Minister R. Nirmalkumar advised them to approach their parents and teachers without hesitation whenever they encountered peer pressure or personal difficulties here on Saturday.Flagging off a mega walkathon organised by the Adhyapana School, in association with Rotary Club of Madurai West and others from the Gandhi Memorial Museum, he said that it was important to have a drug-free generation in the State, which alone would ensure peace, prosperity and growth.Commending the school and its management for the initiative, Mr. NirmalKumar said that whenever there were any issues, youngsters should bring them to the attention of the parents or teachers without hesitation. He stressed the importance of being healthy and assured all support to the students by the government.Holding placards with ‘Say no to drugs’, the Interact Club and EarlyAct Club members from the school took a pledge led by senior principal and correspondent Aruna Visvessvar to create awareness among the society of the impact of drugs. They also resolved not to be influenced in any manner to substance abuse.Commencing from the Gandhi Museum, the rally traversed key arterial routes, including the District Collectorate, Wakf Board College and Tamil Sangam Road, before culminating back at the Gandhi Museum.Dean of Academics Visesh Aiyer, Principal B.
