An awareness marathon held in Madurai on Friday.
‘Start Run, Stop Drugs’, an anti-drug awareness marathon, was conducted in Madurai marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, on Friday.Deputy Mayor T. Nagarajan, Madurai North MLA A. Kallanai, Madurai East MLA S. Karthikeyan and government officials, and others participated in the marathon. The event was flagged off at the Dr. MGR Stadium. The participants included students, athletes, government officials, the general public and others. The marathon passed through key areas and important tourist places in Madurai . The event featured an awareness signature campaign, and the administration of an awareness pledge.The main objective of the awareness programme was to achieve a Drug-Free Tamil Nadu, the officials said.
