Veteran defender Karla Pretorious, who helped lead the Crinums to the 2026 Telkom Netball League title, has ended her playing career.

Karla Pretorius has called time on her playing career, closing the book on one of the most decorated chapters in South African netball history.

The 36-year-old bows out with 125 Proteas caps, three Netball World Cup appearances and three Commonwealth Games campaigns, having established herself as one of the most accomplished defenders of her generation.

Her final international appearance came at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she made an emotional return to the Proteas after stepping away from the national setup following the 2023 World Cup.

It proved to be a fitting final chapter for a player who had already achieved almost everything the sport had to offer.
