SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Several areas in Olongapo City were reported flooded on Friday night (Aug. 28) as water levels in the city’s rivers continued to rise.

Based on the monitoring of the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office at 6:30 p.m. water levels beneath the Del Rosario and Sta. Rita bridges reached 4 meters, classified as spilling level, while Kalaklan Bridge rose to 3.3 meters, or evacuation level.

Some village officials and response team are now conducting rescue operations as many residents reportedly stranded in several areas in the city.

Authorities continue to monitor the water levels and advised residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain alert and follow evacuation advisories.
