According to the police, the suspect confessed to conspiring with other members of the gang, who are currently at large, to abduct unsuspecting residents.
The Anambra State Police Command has said that its operatives arrested 10 suspected members of separate armed robbery and kidnapping syndicates in intelligence-led operations across the state, recovering several firearms and other items.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued on Friday, said that in the first operation, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Emmanuel Chekwube Mark, in the early hours of Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The police spokesperson said that one locally fabricated pistol, two pump-action guns and a military-pattern face cap were recovered from the suspect.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that Mark was allegedly a member of a four-man armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate operating around the Ifite Awka axis of the state.
